Tasmania タスマニア

For a long time I wanted to visit Tasmania

At last my dream came true.  When I told one of my friends that we were going to Tasmania for 4 weeks, she thought we would just book a flight and rental car then go wherever we felt like going.  So she was surprised that I had planned everything and followed a schedule.

The main purpose of the trip was to take photos so it would have been a waste of time looking for a hotels.  I wrote down every detail on a spread sheet: driving times, hotel information, check-in and check-out times.  We stayed in most hotels for 2 or 3 nights, and 5 nights near Cradle mountain.   Most of the hotels had a kitchen for guests so we cooked our own meals.

We got a trekking leaflet at the first national park we visited and we walked quite a lot.  Sometimes, the leaflet said “2 hour course”, but it took us much longer, even without counting the time taking photos.  I think a long legged Australian guy must have measured the time.  So a “2 hour course” was “3 hours plus taking photos time” for us.

The nature and friendly animals were great. I took a photo of myself with a wild wombat. We joined a tour to meet penguins, but we also found a place to see penguins on our own, though we had to wait for 2 hours in the rain.

It was spring this time, so I would like to go there again in autumn.
