First time to see a traffic light like this.
Green arrows pointing in all three directions, but still the main stop light is red. It took us some time to figure out why.
Then we found that the main red light is just to indicate that cars coming from the opposite direction have a red light. Cars on our side can go in any direction, left, right, or straight. If we see a green main light on our side, we don’t know if the light is red or green on the other side so if we want to turn right we have to give priority to cars coming the other way.
Is this only in Tochigi or in any other prefecture?
最初にこの信号機を見たときは驚きました。
緑の矢印が3方向で上は赤。どういう意味なんだろうとわかるまでちょっと時間がかかりました。
メインの信号は反対側の信号機の色で、こちらだけが行っていいんだよ、というのがわかりました。もし上の信号が緑だったら、反対側は何色がわかりません。右に曲がるときは対向車が止まるまでわからないわけです。
この信号機は栃木県以外でもあるのでしょうか。
