Once I was expecting a package
It is good that we can check the status on the internet to see when a package will arrive.
The other day I was waiting for a delivery. It should have came in the morning, but it didn’t, so I checked on the internet and it said “under investigation”. I didn’t know what that meant so I called the service center to ask about it.
The operator said “Your package went to a different prefecture by mistake. It will take some time, but you will get it within today”.
I needed to go out so I asked “What time will it come?”. She said “I’m not sure, but I will call you back once I know”. Unfortunately, where I was going has no cell phone signal so I asked her to call me back as soon as possible before I went out. She said “I can’t promise to call you on time, it may take some time because …”. I had to tell her to stop talking and just start investigating.
I couldn’t get the phone call before I went out, and she didn’t even leave a message so I wasn’t sure what was going on. Eventually, the package came in the late afternoon after I got home.
I don’t know why they didn’t contact me earlier when the package was “under investigation”. It could have saved my time.
宅配便を待っていました
今はインターネットで荷物がどこにあるか調べられるので便利です。
先日荷物を待っていました。午前中に配達をされるはずでしたが、来ませんでした。それでインターネットで調べたところ「調査中」となっていました。意味がわからなかったのでコールセンターに電話をかけてみました。
オペレーターは「荷物は間違って他の県に行ってしまいました。でも今日中に配達はされます。」と言いました。
出かける必要があったので「何時頃に来るのですか？。」と聞いたところ、「調べてみないとわかりませんので、折り返し電話します。」残念なことに、私が行かなくてはならないところは携帯電話の電波が入らなかったので「もうすぐ出かけなくてはならないので早く調べて教えてください。」と頼んだところ「出かける前に電話できるかどうかわかりません、つまり・・・。」私は言葉を遮ってとにかく早く調べてと伝えました。
出かける前に電話は間に合いませんでした。留守電にも入っていなかったのでどうなっているかわかりませんでしたが、家に帰ったあとに荷物は無事届きました。再配達にならなくて良かったです。
ただ「調査中」となった時にどうして連絡をくれなかったのでしょうか。午前中荷物を待って無駄に過ごしてしまいました。
